The benefits of Dalkia CHP

Self sufficiency
CHP systems can run on locally-produced bio-fuels as piped natural gas, stored LPG or biomass and so can suit almost any site whatever the local infrastructure and fuel availability. This ability to be self-sufficient also makes CHP an effective solution for stand-by, emergency or failure-critical applications.
Environment
There has been much scientific analysis and thinking which directly blames high CO2 emissions in the industrial world for global warming. By the Kyoto Agreement many countries in the developed world have set targets for the reduction of CO2 emissions and greater use of CHP contributes significantly to protecting the environment by reducing CO2 emissions. For example, a 725kWe unit fuelled by standard natural gas shows an annual saving of 1500 tonnes of CO2 over conventional electricity generation and gas-fired boilers.
The use of CHP also assists by providing local generation and reducing the load on our national grid
Direct financial benefits
There is a clear economic argument for using CHP systems, with cheaper heat and power from day one and amortisation of capital investment in as little as two years. Using Cogenco's leasing options it is possible simply to pay for the power used without making any capital investment – and with the cost agreed in advance you can be certain that you are saving money. Dalkia can also provide options for financing larger schemes for the NHS, through PFI, and for industry.
